The perfect remembrance
Remember a loved one you miss by adding their name in the letters and numbers printed on the side of a new all-weather lifeboat (Civil Service 53) at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk.
There is a suggested donation of £50/€50 per name. The money you donate will go into RNLI general funds. Watch our video to find out more, and read our full terms and conditions.
To Launch a Memory with us, simply add your loved one’s name using the form. Please note, once we reach our quota, we will no longer be able to accept additional names.
You will get regular email updates and you’ll later receive an online printable certificate commemorating the special person you miss. If you have any questions in the meantime, visit our FAQs.
Named in honour of The Duke of Edinburgh
We are proud to announce that our new Shannon will be named after HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The RNLI is delighted to honour Prince Philip’s longstanding commitment to maritime services and lifetime of support to Her Majesty The Queen, who has been our Patron since 1952. And in a further nod to his naval career, earlier this summer, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales attached a magpie engraved plate to the new lifeboat which will bear The Duke of Edinburgh’s name and which is currently being built at the RNLI’s All-weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole, Dorset which you can see in this photo.
Past loving memories
Vickie Ford is among the thousands of people who will be commemorated on this year's Launch a Memory lifeboat. Her family's tribute on Launch a Memory's special dedication pages reads: 'Vickie was a force of nature, strong, passionate and determined in all she did. It seems only fitting that Vickie should be remembered on a lifeboat battling the odds and working to help others, as she did every day. We love and miss you Vickie.'
