West Kirby's station history
Inshore lifeboat station established in June with the placing on service of a D Class lifeboat.
The lifeboat crew were awarded the Bronze Medal of the RSPCA for Animal Lifesaving when they rescued two horses trapped in deep mud at West Kirby on 10 April 1988.
A new boathouse constructed further back in Coronation Gardens, protecting it from flooding, after the previous boathouse, situated on the promenade, was seriously damaged in severe storms in February 1990, and was subsequently demolished.
As well as housing the lifeboat and launching vehicle, the new boathouse includes a crewroom, office, workshop, galley and toilet.
The new class of lifeboat IB1, D-612 Dave and Trevor Jones was placed on service on 9 December 2003. D-473 Thomas Jefferson has been withdrawn.
The new D class lifeboat D-751, Dave & Mary was placed on service 19 June 2012. Lifeboat D-612 Dave and Trevor Jones has been withdrawn.
