For 40 years an inshore lifeboat at West Kirby has covered an area off the north west tip of the Wirral peninsula. Today’s D class lifeboat is a re-engineered and updated version of the original D class.

West Kirby RNLI responds to two adults cut off by the tide
Crew paged during Remembrance service to respond to two adults being cut off by the time. The casualties were found safe and well on 'Middle Eye' island and were promptly returned to shore where they were greeted by the Coastguard.

West Kirby RNLI respond to Mayday call
Launched at 1230 in response to an automatic Mayday sent from the RYA SafeTrx App to look for an overdue Kayaker. After a thorough search, the app owner was identified and the alert was cancelled. Whilst on this shout, the spoken word 'Mayday' was heard on VHF  CH16 and the location of this was triangulated by the Coastguard. Upon arriving at the location, no one in distress was found and after a further search in conjunction with Flint Lifeboat, no one in distress was found.
