Appledore Lifeboat Station

Situated on the north Devon coast, Appledore Lifeboat Station operates an all-weather Tamar class lifeboat and an inshore B class Atlantic 85 lifeboat. Lifeboat crews have been presented with 30 RNLI awards for gallantry and 4 foreign medals.

Appledore RNLI launch to man stuck in the mud
At around 2.30 on the afternoon of April 4 2018 Appledore RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew were tasked by Falmouth Coastguard to help a man stuck in the mud with a fast flowing incoming tide somewhere near Crowe Point in the Torridge Taw Estuary.. The boarding boat was immediately lauched to help him, which they did, returning him to the lifeboat station where one of the volunteers gave him a lift home. Text book rescue for text book casulty who had not panicked or made matters worse. He had stayed put and phoned 999 and asked for the Coastguard. A happy ending
