Appledore Guild

Appledore has had a lifeboat since 1825, with boats stationed at Braunton Burrows, Northam Burrows and Appledore in the early years to rescue casualties on both sides of the Bideford Bar. Appledore became the main lifeboat station in 1919, and the first motorised lifeboat arrived in 1922.

The fundraising Guild has existed for as long as the lifeboat station, supporting the local crew and helping to save lives at sea. We are a very active branch, always looking for new opportunities and ideas, so please feel free to get in touch.

We welcome new members to the team who can help us expand our fundraising activities and increase our impact even further.

RNLI Appledore Guild always welcomes new members of the events and fundraising crew. You don't need any special skills other than a wish to support the RNLI and become involved in assisting with local events, everything from quiz nights, concerts, challenges, cream teas at Tapeley House and the annual carol concert at the Lifeboat Station.

There is no pressure as we are all 'volunteers' who enjoy supporting the RNLI.

We meet for a couple of hours every month (usually at the Lifeboat Station) and committee members are invited to offer fundraising ideas and to get involved with events wherever they can.
