Our lifeboat station projects

Here are just some of the major lifeboat station alteration and construction projects we have planned around the UK and Ireland.

The safety and comfort of our volunteer lifeboat crews and the protection of their lifeboats is paramount. So it's crucial they have lifeboat stations that are fit for purpose.

Every second counts when launching our lifeboats and each class of lifeboat requires specific shore facilities such as a boathouse, slipway or pontoon berth.

Work to maintain, improve and rebuild our lifeboat stations is constant to accommodate new classes of lifeboats, update crew facilities and, ultimately, to ensure an effective lifesaving service.

We generally have around 125 projects like these ongoing at any one time, completing approximately 25 of them each year, which account for some 10% of the RNLI’s £149.6M annual running costs. With 93% of our total income coming from donations, we rely on your support to meet these lifesaving costs.
