Visits volunteer resources
Find useful resources to help you in your role as a visits volunteer.
Whether you’re hosting school groups to inspire the next generation of lifesavers or giving guided tours at your local lifeboat station or visitor centre, here are all the resources you’ll need to help you plan and run safe, fun, and engaging visits.
Visits admin documents
Our visits volunteer admin documents are key for planning and running RNLI visits. A great starting point is the visits handbook, which includes information such as ideas for activities, a checklist of things to do before and during a visit, and safeguarding tips.
You’ll also find a booking form with terms and conditions for visitors, and a tracking form to help you monitor the number of people attending your visit.
Online ordering
Get exclusive resources specific to your visits volunteer role and order materials through our self-service system.
Log into MyStore and search for ‘visits volunteer resources’ to find resources to support your visits, such as activity sheets and education materials. If you don’t have access to MyStore, please get in touch with your volunteer manager.
Risk assessment support
As a visits volunteer, it’s important to do a risk assessment to keep everyone safe. You must carry out a risk assessment once per year – please contact your community manager to arrange one.
Youth education resources
If you run visits for local schools and youth organisations, take a look at our youth education resources. Find videos, activity sheets and learning resources to help deliver fun and engaging water safety lessons to children and young people.
Download the RNLI presentation template
Thinking of creating a presentation for your visit? They’re a great way to share water safety messages, videos, and other interactive content.
To help you get started, we’ve made an RNLI-branded PowerPoint template for you to download.
Engagement kit
We want to make sure you have the kit you need to support you in your engagement volunteer role. You will be able to find all the different kit available to our engagement volunteers, the criteria and how to order it. As well as this you will also find further information on our engagement polo shirts.
If you have any questions or would like support with accessing visits volunteer resources, contact your volunteer manager or email the Volunteer Experience Team at [email protected].
