Welsh choir concert raises over £2,200 for Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI
A stirring evening of choral music and community spirit has helped to raise £2,284.32 for Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI, as the Kenfig Hill & District Male Voice Choir raised the roof at the ‘Voices from the Valleys’ fundraising concert on Saturday 30 May.
The choir from South Wales, led in song by Musical Director Rhian Thomas and accompanied by Rachel Starritt, entertained a packed audience at St Hildeburgh’s Parish Church with a varied programme of music including a powerful rendition of local favourite, You'll Never Walk Alone.
The Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir is an internationally acclaimed group and has performed at leading concert halls, cathedrals and civic and parliamentary venues across the UK and around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Senedd Cymru and the Palace of Westminster, earning a reputation for powerful and uplifting performances.
Carron Jones, Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI Fundraising Chair, said:
‘The choir gave a wonderful performance and we are so grateful to all of the musicians for supporting our charity. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to raise vital funds for the RNLI and we are delighted that the concert was such a success. Every penny raised will help our volunteer crews to save lives at sea.’
‘Our thanks also go to Hoylake Post Office for supporting ticket sales and promotion, and to all our amazing RNLI fundraising volunteers and operational staff who helped to welcome the choir and make the event such a success. The event was a great example of the RNLI’s One Crew spirit.’
Paul Butterworth, Chairman of the Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir, said:
‘The feedback we received from our audience was amazing after the concert. We had such an amazing time and were made to feel so welcome. I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the concert in aid of Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI and the amazing work they do in keeping our seas a safe place to be. We really hope everyone enjoyed the evening.’
