The inshore lifeboat 'Solihull' with four volunteer crewmembers launched at 4.53am and shortly afterwards the all weather lifeboat 'John Sharp' with six crewmembers was tasked to assist emergency services with a shoreline search between Blackhall and Easington on the East Durham coast.

The all weather lifeboat launched at 5.06am and was on scene at 5.29am where a search of the coastline commenced.

With the Headland incident resolved the inshore lifeboat was then tasked at 5.24am to take part in the search with the all weather lifeboat on the East Durham Coast.

Both boats were eventually stood down by Humber Coastguard at 6.30am and returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station at 6.50am where they were refuelled and made ready for service by 7.20am.

Hartlepool RNLI Lifeboat operations manager Steve Pounder said 'We were quickly on scene to assist emergency services at both locations in difficult conditions.
Once again there was great commitment from the volunteer crewmembers who turned out to assist with the incidents.
It's thanks to donations from the public that we can provide this service and help save lives at sea.

Sea conditions were described as moderate with a force 4 westerly wind.
