Weymouth RNLI lifeboat crew respond to over 90 incidents in 2025
Volunteer crew at RNLI Weymouth Lifeboat Station have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to saving lives at sea, with newly released statistics revealing a busy year of service throughout 2025.
Across the year, the station’s inshore B class lifeboat launched 54 times, aiding 16 people in a variety of incidents along the local coastline. Meanwhile, the all-weather lifeboat (ALB) Ernest and Mabel, designed to operate in more challenging offshore conditions, was launched 39 times, coming to the aid of 25 people.
In total, Weymouth’s volunteer crews responded to 93 callouts and provided assistance to 41 individuals in 2025, reflecting both the demands of a popular coastal area and the vital role the RNLI continues to play in keeping those at sea safe.
These figures highlight not only the breadth of incidents attended, from leisure craft in difficulty to emergency situations, but also the dedication of the volunteer lifeboat crews who remain on call 24/7, ready to respond in all conditions.
As Weymouth looks ahead to the 2026 season, volunteer crews are already preparing for another busy year on the water. With increasing numbers of visitors expected along the Jurassic Coast, the RNLI is urging everyone to take simple precautions, check the weather and tides, carry appropriate safety equipment, and always let someone know your plans before heading out.
The volunteer crew at Weymouth Lifeboat Station stands ready to keep people safe throughout the months ahead, continuing their lifesaving mission both on and off the water.
The lifesaving work of the RNLI is only possible thanks to public support. Donations help ensure crews have the training, equipment and facilities they need to continue answering the call, whenever it comes.
