£3,115 raised for the RNLI at West Kirby Sailing Club fireworks
Lifeboats News Release
Families and friends gathered at West Kirby Sailing Club for an evening of fireworks and fundraising, raising over £3,000 for the local RNLI lifeboat crews.
West Kirby Sailing Club once again lit up the estuary skies as hundreds of spectators gathered for the annual fireworks celebration in aid of West Kirby and Hoylake RNLI last Saturday (1 November).
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, along with the hard work of club members and RNLI volunteers, £3,115 was raised. The funds will go directly towards supporting the work of the West Kirby and Hoylake RNLI stations, helping to keep the volunteer crews trained, equipped and ready to save lives at sea.
Chris Gatenby, West Kirby Sailing Club Commodore, said:
‘On behalf of everyone at West Kirby Sailing Club, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all who joined us for our annual fireworks display last Saturday. Your presence lit up the night and your generosity lit up our hearts.
‘The RNLI is a cause close to our community and vital to the safety of all who venture out on the water. We’re proud to stand alongside you in supporting the local lifeboat crews who risk their lives to save others. Here’s to safe seas, strong friendships and many more nights of celebration. Thank you again and see you next year!’
Richard Diamond, West Kirby Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:
‘It was brilliant to see the community come out in such strong support once again for their local RNLI stations. Every penny raised helps us continue saving lives at sea and we can’t thank West Kirby Sailing Club enough for making that possible.
‘All of our volunteers give their time freely to train and respond whenever the call comes, day or night. Knowing that so many people are behind us means a great deal, so on behalf of the entire crew, thank you.’
Harry Jones, Hoylake RNLI Senior Station Technician, said:
‘A huge thank you to everyone who came down to see the incredible fireworks display and donated to support the RNLI. It was an amazing evening and we’re so grateful to West Kirby Sailing Club for putting on such a fantastic show again.
‘The funds raised will make a real difference, helping to keep our lifeboats running and our volunteer crews ready to launch to the rescue this winter. Our community's support means everything to us and we couldn’t save lives without you.’
