West Kirby and Hoylake RNLI to join Grange Hill Remembrance Sunday service

Hoylake and District Remembrance Sunday Committee have been working with Wirral Borough Council over the last few months to ensure the 100+ year tradition of remembrance remains feasible.

As a result of these efforts, the Committee can confirm the service, at 10.30am on Sunday 9 November, and subsequent parade will go ahead.

After the service, the parade will depart Grange Old Road at around 11.40am, concluding on the Concourse apron at roughly 12.15pm.

John Brown, Chairman of the Hoylake & District Remembrance Sunday Committee, said:

‘After the service, the salute will take place outside the Concourse, before the parade falls in on the Concourse apron (pedestrianised area) outside of the library.

‘A wreath will be laid by Captain H B Daglish LVO JP DL RN for the 149th Royal Horse Artillery, the 'Hoylake Horse' and all are welcome to join us.’

‘The committee would like to express our deep and sincere thanks and appreciation to Wirral Borough Council, especially the Civic Team, cross political party support from councillors, MPs and the leader of the council who have worked tirelessly to support us throughout this time.

‘On behalf of the committee, our community and all who have, and continue to serve, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, liberty and way of life, we'd like to thank those who continue to support us with this day of national significance, the 3,000 members of our community who attend and those potentially impacted by these road closures.

‘Do please join us on Sunday 9 November at 10.30am at Grange Hill War Memorial.’

There will be some road closures in place on the day. Traffic management officers will have these closures officially in place between 7am and 5pm throughout Wirral. However officers will be on site in West Kirby and will be working to minimise this timeframe as much as possible, anticipating a shorter period.

The road closures will be as follows:

A. Grange Road, A540 (After Dee Lane junction, proceeding past the concourse, up the hill, finishing before Black Horse Hill junction).

B. Grange Road junctions adjoining:

Abbey Road, Homestead Mews, Gerard Road, Heatherdene Road, Ashburton Road, Darmonds Green, Brookfield Gardens, Orrysdale Road, Yewtree Lane and Westbourne Road.

C. Dee Lane, Banks Road, Village Road, Black Horse Hill and Westbourne Road will all remain open and can act as alternative routes and parking for impacted residents.
