Wells RNLI thanks Rob Arnold for raising funds for RNLI

Wells RNLI Coxswain Nicky King and members of the crew welcomed Rob Arnold and his wife to the boathouse to thank him for his fundraising efforts for the RNLI selling his books. They featured a foreword by Nigel Mansell CBE and Johnny Vegas.

Rob Arnold presented Wells RNLI with a cheque for £520 along with two signed copies of his latest book ‘Automobilia My Way’ which have also been signed by Johnny Vegas. Editions 13 and 46 were presented to the station to replicate Duke of Edinburgh lifeboat number 13-46.

To date Automobilia has donated over £8000 to varies charities such as RNLI, Race against Dementia and Air ambulance. Rob’s mothers name June Kathleen Arnold is placed among the 15,000 names printed on Wells RNLI's Shannon class Launch a Memory lifeboat.

Rob Arnold said: ‘We would like to thank all at Wells RNLI for their hospitality and the behind-the-scenes tour. What a wonderful job all the volunteers do, and a huge thank you to all that brought a copy of the books.’

On behalf of Wells RNLI, Coxswain Nicky King, said: 'We are extremely grateful for support in raising funds for Wells Station. We all appreciate the significant donation they have made to the RNLI.’

Key facts about the RNLI

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
