Wells RNLI tasked to assist in missing person search
Wells RNLI D class lifeboat Peter Wilcox and volunteer crew were tasked to conduct a search on Sunday 2 March 2025 after concerns were raised for a missing person on Holkham beach.
The inshore lifeboat with a volunteer crew of three launched at 4:50pm in the outer harbour and the station's Softtrak launch and recovery vehicle was then deployed to conduct a beach search with three groups of shore crew, after concerns were raised for the safety of a missing person that had become separated from their group on the foreshore of Holkham beach.
The inshore lifeboat proceeded out of the harbour and commenced towards Scolt head conducting an extensive shoreline search. At 5:10pm the missing person was located in the car park of Lady Anne’s Drive Holkham safe and well requiring no medical assistance.
Speaking after the search was stood down, Wells RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Chris Hardy said: 'If you are planning to visit the coast you should always carry a means of communication such as a mobile phone, and ensure if they are not waterproof that you have them in a water tight bag, so you can call for help easily if and when needed.'
At 5:15pm the inshore lifeboat and shore crew were stood down and headed back to the boathouse. The lifeboat was then rehoused, refuelled and made ready for service again at 5:50pm
