Wells RNLI's first sea swimming safety talk proves a success
Volunteer Water Safety Officer Mandy Humphreys invited local swimmers and dippers to the lifeboat station on Saturday 8 February 2025.
The talk was well attended by many swimmers from a range of abilities. Mandy and Liam Fayle-Parr RNLI Water Safety Lead shared their expert knowledge with sea swimmers from Wells and the surrounding area.
The attendees listened to a presentation and had the opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.
Mandy Humphreys, Wells RNLI's Water Safety Officer, said: 'Don't hesitate to dial 999 if you have any doubts about someone's safety in the water, as we would much rather go and check it out than get there when it's too late.
'Always carry a means of calling for help. You must be able to reach it in an emergency.
'Always consider using a tow float and wear a brightly coloured swim hat. This will increase your visibility in the water.β
One of the session attendees Paula Baldry, said: βIt was a very informative, refreshing and professionally delivered session in a warm friendly setting. I may now take up cold water swimming.β
