'Last Blast' Porsche 911 Challenge visits Hartlepool RNLI
London couple James and Belinda Richardson visited Hartlepool RNLI lifeboat station recently as part of their fundraising 911 Challenge as they visit all 238 lifeboat stations around the UK in 911 hours in their Porsche 911 car.
They have raised £83,000 so far and hope to reach £100,000 to buy a D Class lifeboat for the charity that saves lives at sea.
James said 'This the sixth and last challenge for us but meeting and hearing the stories from the volunteer crewmembers is an inspiration. It's an amazing charity that celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. Hartlepool is our 107th station to visit during the challenge and at each station we are met by smiling faces and great support.'
Belinda said 'We hope to finish at the Isle of Man on the 30th September which is where the RNLI founder Sir William Hillary lived. Our sponsors are from all walks off life and organisations and we are very grateful for there support.'
Hartlepool Lifeboat Operations manager Steve Pounder said 'It was great to meet James and Belinda whose selfless effort to raise money for the charity will no doubt play its part in saving a life or lives. There enthusiasm to support the RNLI is brilliant and on behalf of all the crew and fundraisers at Hartlepool we wish them a safe journey as we follow there 911 Challenge around the remaining lifeboat stations.'
