Heritage Centre £10,000 pres to RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Lifeboat days and other activities held at Seaham’s East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre which houses the restored former Seaham lifeboat George Elmy, have raised £10,000 for the RNLI.

Ernie Cooper of the East Durham Heritage Group said 'We are delighted to present this amazing amount to the RNLI to support the volunteer lifeboat crews who are all on call 24-7 to help save lives at sea. We are all volunteers at the Centre and are currently appealing for new volunteers to come and join us here to tell the story of the RNLB George Elmy and support the Centre with its local history exhibitions'.


Hon. Secretary of the Durham Branch of the RNLI David Hastings said 'The continued support from the East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre has been incredible. We are extremely grateful for their contribution to the RNLI to help save lives at sea.'


Anyone interested in joining the East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre can call in any day between Thursday and Sunday.
