The pub hosts a quarterly quiz for a different charity each time and offers a delicious meal to the quizzers prior to the quiz. The meal on offer this time was a delicious curry and was much enjoyed by the contestants.

Wells RNLI was the nominated charity to benefit from this event. A grand total of £617 was handed over to Adele Meakin from Wells RNLI.

Adele said: ‘This is an amazing amount of money raised for the RNLI and will be put to good use in helping our volunteers to save lives at sea. Every penny counts and we can only continue our vital lifesaving work with the wonderful support of the local communities.'

A raffle was held along with a 50:50 raffle, which saw half the amount received go to the winner, with the remaining half go to Wells RNLI. The winning team on the evening were rewarded with a Sunday lunch voucher for the Dabbling Duck.

Grateful thanks to the quiz master Malcolm Tibble, the organiser Robert Taylor and the wonderful staff and owners of The Dabbling Duck, Great Massingham.

Notes to editor

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our charity and 97% of our frontline lifesavers are volunteers.

Our vision is to save every one. To find out more about the RNLI and make a donation, please visit RNLI.org/donate. Every penny counts.

The Wells RNLI is located at Beach Road, Wells-next-the-sea, Norfolk, NR23 1DR. There is a well stocked shop in the boat house, usually open Fridays to Mondays, 10am-4pm, staffed entirely by volunteers. Some changes to these days are likely, due to staff shortages.

The current lifeboats at the station are a Shannon class all-weather lifeboat No 13-46, Duke of Edinburgh, new to the station in 2023 and a D class Inshore lifeboat No. D-797 Peter Wilcox, in service since 2016.
