Arriving with Chris Smith, Bicentenary Event Driver, and Connie the Electric Ford Transit the scroll was signed firstly by Neil Anderson Chairman of Staithes and Runswick RNLI lifeboat station then by Paul Hart boathouse manager and finally by volunteer crew member Liz Wilson.

The signing took place in front of a small crowd of fellow volunteers, villagers and visitors.

Speaking of the event Neil Anderson said: ‘It was an honour to add our names to the Connecting Communities scroll on behalf of Staithes and Runswick RNLI lifeboat station, joining many others from around the UK and Ireland. It was an incredible way to connect our volunteers in the 200th year of the charity.’

Manufactured in house by RNLI craftspeople the scroll is on a journey around the UK visiting lifeboat stations, fundraising branches and other events.

Chris Smith Bicentenary Event Driver with the RNLI said: 'This journey in the RNLI's 200th year has taken me to some amazing places around the UK, as a volunteer and staff member this has shown me no matter who or where we are, we are truly one crew.'
