Dance class organiser Peter Russell said "We have raised money for various charities over the years and this year after a trip to Buckie in Scotland and a look at their lifeboat we thought we would do it for the RNLI and with the Hartlepool station being nearest to us we thought we would present them with the money raised following a fundraising evening that was held at the club .

Peter's wife Lilian who was born and brought up in Buckie said "I have very fond memories of seeing the lifeboat and the important part it played in the town but sadly after 27 years of running the line dancing class Peter and I have decided to call it a day but we are really proud to make this donation to the charity and its amazing volunteers."

Hartlepool RNLI Coxswain Robbie Maiden said "On behalf of every one at the station I would like to say thank you to Peter and Lilian and their fellow line dancers. Without donations like this we simply could not go to sea to save the lives of people in trouble. The commitment shown by our volunteer crewmembers is amazing and the support we receive from the public is vital."
