Wells RNLI launched to two people cut off by the tide at Blakeney
On Friday 23 February 2024, Wells RNLI’s D class lifeboat was tasked by HM Coastguards to assist two people cut off by the incoming tide at Blakeney harbour.
The volunteer crew of three launched their D class ILB (Inshore lifeboat) ‘Peter Wilcox’ at 6.34pm from the boathouse slipway and proceeded to the reported location. The lifeboat made good speed in slight sea conditions and arrived on scene at 7pm. The Inshore lifeboat crew requested further directions to the people cut off by the tide from Coastguard units on scene and has the people in sight.
At 7.05pm the inshore lifeboat had located and taken the two people onboard, they safely conveyed them to the shore of Blakeney Carnser into the care of the Coastguards at 7.09pm. The people were cold but otherwise unharmed.
The inshore lifeboat was stood down and returned to the station. At 7.38pm the lifeboat was rehoused and refuelled ready for service.
