Launching into near gale force wind and rough seas, Porthdinllaen RNLI's Tamar class all-weather lifeboat, with a compliment of volunteer crew onboard, made best speed across the bay to Nefyn. Arriving on scene as the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon spotted the swimmer. The helicopter crew deployed their winchman, skilfully lowering them into the water and the casualty was safely and efficiently evacuated.

The casualty was then transferred to the care of the local Coastguard Rescue Team for medical treatment.

Owain Williams, Porthdinllaen RNLI Coxswain said: ‘We would like to remind everybody that conditions at the coast this time of year can pose significant risk. Please make sure to check local tidal and weather conditions before venturing out. If you do see anybody in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard’.
