Future crew Max is following in his dad’s footsteps.

Recently Max, aged 10, was out with his dad Richard a crew member on both Wells RNLI lifeboats, when his pager went off.

Max loved the excitement of it so much, he has a further two visits to the station since Wednesday and has been telling all his friends about the RNLI.

He was given a tour of the station, and his dad explained the importance of the lifesaving work the RNLI does, Max is eager to visit again.

Max was shown the station’s Shannon and D class lifeboats during crew training, and tried on some of the volunteer crew’s kit.

It looks like the RNLI has got a future volunteer and perhaps a crewmember.

Notes to editors

The RNLI's children range and future crew range is available here: https://shop.rnli.org/collections/kids-clothing

Wells RNLI has a D class inshore lifeboat Peter Wilcox and a Shannon class all- weather lifeboat Duke of Edinburgh. The boathouse and the all-weather lifeboat were new in 2022. The Duke of Edinburgh lifeboat was the first UK Launch a Memory lifeboat, which has 15,000 names printed on the decals. This helped to raise much needed funds for the RNLI and attracts thousands of visitors to the station.
