The money was raised from a collection made at a showing of the award winning film documentary 'Brass Monkeys of the North Sea' at Seaton Social Club.

Swimming club member Tom Mcguire who made the film said "Its good to know that the RNLI are there should we ever need them. They are an amazing charity."

Hartlepool RNLI chairman Malcolm Cook said "This is a fantastic donation from the Brass Monkeys. It's really kind of them to think about our charity who depend on donations to allow our volunteer crew to be on call 24/7. I'm rather glad I didn't have to put my trunks on to go in the water and receive the cheque as it must be freezing."
