Bowls Club donation to Hartlepool RNLI
Grayfields Bowls Club men’s section made a donation of £350.00 to the Hartlepool RNLI recently.
Due to the recent closure of the men’s section which was originally founded in 1924 it was decided that the remaining money in the men’s section bank account should be distributed to some of the local charities in the town.
Eighty-five-year-old bowls club member Arthur Rodgerson said: ‘The local RNLI station is one of the worthy charities we decided to donate the money to which we hope will help the volunteer crew save lives at sea.'
Tommy Price of the Hartlepool RNLI said: ‘It’s sad to see the closure of the men’s bowling club section but their donation will play a part in supporting our volunteer crew members.'
Following the presentation the club members were given a tour of the Ferry Road lifeboat station where they were shown the lifeboats and equipment the volunteer crew use.
