New ‘Tool track’ launching vehicle being delivered to Flint RNLI

The ‘Tool Track’ which is designed to assist the volunteer lifeboat crew launching the lifeboat at Connah's Quay at low tide when there is a build up of mud on the slipway. Trials have been taking place with a temporary vehicle for the last twelve months, and have proved successful.

Starting this week seven of the lifeboat volunteers from Flint are undergoing an intensive Casualty Care course at the lifeboat station, revisiting training from previous courses, and looking at new initiatives.

Last year the RNLI volunteers from Flint responded to 16 calls, saved two lives, and rescued a further four people whose lives were not in immediate danger when the lifeboat reached them. Since 1966 when the lifeboat station was established at Flint volunteers have responded to 694 calls, saved 99 lives, and rescued 229 people.
