Lifeboats News Release

Friday 13th is normally deemed as an unlucky day but not for the RNLI volunteers.

Barnacle Buoys in full swing

The weather was on their side, the crowd was gathering and the Barnacle Buoys were raring to go with a night of fun and Sea Shanties.

The free event, which was held at the RNLI Lifeboat Station in Portishead was a real hit with all who attended. Cheers and applause rang out of the Boat Hall, My Lady Anne, the Stations Atlantic 85 Lifeboat took prime position at the top of the launch ramp, ready to go just in case the pagers sounded. Luckily the volunteers were able to join in with the fun, thankfully the pagers were quiet for the night.

With the gorgeous weather, more and more people arrived and even the dog walkers passing by stayed to join the fun.

Dave Slack, Lifeboat Operations Manager said ‘A great night for our community with an amazing result, having raised in excess of £800 we cannot thank the Barnacle Buoys enough for their time and valuable support. We look forward to having them back, when they can squeeze us in to their busy schedule!’
