Mersey Maritime Movie Night raising funds for Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI
On 19 September at 7:30pm The Light Cinema, New Brighton will host a unique screening of three films about local maritime history with all proceeds going to local charities.
Local film maker, Graham Mathews, is pleased to present these never-before-seen films to the public next month. Each film tells the story of a different area of local maritime interest: the recent history of the RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station, the restoration of unique steam tug/tender Daniel Adamson (The Danny) and the Maritime City Liverpool.
The night will be kindly hosted by The Light Cinema in New Brighton and all proceeds will go towards the Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat stations at Hoylake and West Kirby, The Daniel Adamson Preservation Society and the upkeep of Merseyside Maritime Museums Brocklebank.
Both The Danny and Brocklebank are on the register of National Historic Ships UK.
The event will be opened by Mr. John Curry the Chairman of the Hoylake and West Kirby Lifeboat Management Group. Also in attendance will be the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Dame Lorna Muirhead DCVO DBE and Councillor Ann McLachlan the Mayor of Wirral and her consort Mr. Bill McLachlan.
Tickets are limited and should be purchased in advance from The Light Cinema. All ticket holders will be entered into a free prize draw on the night with great prizes donated by various local businesses.
