Graham raised cash for Fraserburgh Lifeboat at his 50th Birthday Party.
When Graham Duthie came in to the station and told Coxswain Vic Sutherland that he’d raised some money for the lifeboat at his 50th Birthday Party Vic didn’t expect him to come out with the amount he did.
Graham told Vic that he’d raised an amazing £1180.34 for the RNLI
Graham who celebrated his 50th birthday on the 28th of September held a party for his friends, family and colleagues at the Leisure Centre two days later on the 30th.
He made it clear he didn’t want presents but if anyone wanted they could make a donation to the RNLI.
Graham’s flat overlooks the Lifeboat Station and he sees a lot of the activity at the station… everyday work and maintenance, crew arriving for training and exercises, and the lifeboat going out on shouts.
“Everyone in Fraserburgh respects and admires the work that the lifeboat does and the place the lifeboat has in the community” said Graham.
“So with my 50th approaching I decided to hold a party and thought it would be a good idea to raise funds for the Lifeboat. We raised the money at the party through raffles, donations and collections. I was wondering and half hoping that we might be able to achieve a four figure sum but friends, family and colleagues really came good. When we totalled up the final amount we were really pleased that we passed the four figure mark with a bit to spare.”
“With more than a bit to spare, £1180.34 is a tremendous amount,” said Vic “I wasn’t expecting to hear him say that when he walked through the door. I’d like to thank Graham and his friends, family and colleagues on behalf of everyone at Fraserburgh Lifeboat Station for thinking of us and raising the money for such a sizeable donation. All the money raised will be used to help us save lives at sea.”
