Hartlepool RNLI volunteers invited to Buckingham Palace

Beryl Sherry and Ann Wray, founder members of Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Fundraising Branch, have both served the RNLI for 25 years and received the invitation to the garden party in recognition of their long service.
 
Beryl, who is Chairperson of the Enterprise Branch said ‘We both received a letter from the Lord Leiutenant of County Durham inviting us to attend the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. It was such an honour.’
 
Ann, who has been Souvenir and Collection Box Secretary for the last 12 years, said ‘It was an absolutely amazing experience and a day we will never forget. It was a privilege to go and represent Hartlepool and the RNLI.

Malcolm Cook, Chairman of Hartlepool RNLI Management Committee said ‘It is well deserved recognition of all the hard work the ladies have put in over the past 25 years.’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
