Sizzling start to Flint RNLI's 50th with launch of anniversary sausage

Lifeboats News Release

Flint butcher Tony Lovatt is supporting the Flint RNLI fundraising appeal by producing an anniversary sausage which is on sale in his shop at Chester Street. Flint.

Flint RNLI is currently celebrating 50 years of saving lives at sea and during this special year is embarking on an ambitious fundraising campaign towards a new D-class lifeboat.

Tony said:

'I was asked if I could help the lifeboat appeal at Flint and after some thought came up with idea of a lifeboat sausage, with £1 going to the lifeboat appeal for every sausage sale.'

Richard Polden RNLI volunteer press officer at Flint said:

'This is a novel fundraising idea and we are delighted that Tony has agreed to help, he is also selling appeal raffle tickets at his shop in Chester Street.'

The new £48k lifeboat the Lady Barbara is due to arrive in May or June, and is partially funded thanks to a generous £35k donation from local RNLI supporter David Sadler in memory of his late wife Barbara who sadly died in April 2015. The remaining £13k is being raised locally, with Flint RNLI  just over half way to target. Anyone interested in helping can contact Richard on 01352 711185.
