2019: Watch a year of saving lives at sea
Take a look back at another dramatic year of rescues for the lifesavers of the RNLI
RNLI lifesavers have never been this busy. More people than ever before are using the waters around the coasts of UK and Ireland. More people than ever are getting in to trouble. Lifeboat crews and lifeguards went to the rescue of thousands of people in 2019. From people cut-off by the tide, stranded kayakers in perilous situations, to fishing vessels in distress, lifeboat crews answered the call to rescue 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Lifeguards were kept busy in the summer, as they patrolled over 240 beaches to make sure people had a safe time at the beach.
And they couldn't have done it without you.
Every mile you ran. Every cake you baked (or ate!). Every bucket you shook. Every fish supper you cooked. Every RNLI shop you visited and Christmas card you bought. Every single pound you donated. All helped us save lives in 2019. Because without you, we couldn't fuel our lifeboats, train our crew, or provide the equipment they need. Without you, we wouldn't be able to train RNLI lifeguards to keep beaches safe. And without you, we couldn't share the safety messages that mean people both young and old don't get into trouble in the water.
You make the RNLI what it is. You save lives at sea. Thank you.
