Station visits

We welcome pre-booked visits from school, youth and adult groups. These visits can include tours of the lifeboat station, a close-up view of the D-class inshore lifeboat, opportunities to see the crew kit ready for a "shout" as well as water safety sessions and can be tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group. To book a group visit, please contact the Lifeboat Visits Officer (contact details above).

Please be aware that the station is at 24 hour readiness and operational necessity is our priority so tours may have to be altered at the last minute.

Station opening times

Don’t miss crew training:

  • Wednesdays: 5.30-9pm (boats launch around 6pm and are recovered around 8-8.30pm), except for the last Wednesday of each month where is shore-based training and the lifeboats are not launched.
  • Sundays: 8.30-11.30am (boats launch around 9am and are recovered 10.30-11am)

Visitors are welcome to watch the launch/recovery and may have a tour of the lifeboat station during these times (subject to the availability of the shore crew).

We look forward to seeing you there.

Community visits

Crew members and water safety advisors are also willing to visit community groups. To arrange a community visit, please contact the Lifeboat Visits Officer (contact details above).

Accessibility

There is a large pay-and-display car park opposite the lifeboat station with disabled parking bays within 30m of the station.

If you have mobility difficulties, you will still be able to see all of the kit, boats and equipment as these are all on the ground floor; it is only the crew room which may not be accessible as this is on the first floor.

Donations

All tours, water safety sessions and visits are free as these are led by volunteers; we do, however, welcome donations to help support the RNLI to save lives at sea.
