Twickenham, Teddington and District Fundraising Branch
Branch information
The Twickenham, Teddington and District fundraising branch covers not only Twickenham and Teddington but also Richmond, St. Margarets, Whitton, Sunbury and Ashford (Middx).
Since the branch was formed in 1959 it has raised over £1.5 million, more than half of that since the millennium.
We also have close links with Teddington Lifeboat Station, which along with the other Thames Lifeboat Stations at Chiswick, Tower and Gravesend, began operating in 2002.
We are always looking for new volunteers and supporters. If you would like to join us in our fundraising activities, please get in touch.
We are currently seeking a Branch Secretary to provide support and help to our branch.
Duties are very flexible but will include administration, checking and ordering stationery also liaison with:
- RNLI Volunteer Experience Team
- Local fundraising branches.
- Local area activities
- Our crew at Teddington Lifeboat Station.
It would be very useful if you lived in the Twickenham/Teddington area as local contacts are always welcome.
It would be beneficial if you were able to use a computer and were able to attend monthly committee meetings (at Teddington Lifeboat Station) and assist, where possible, with fundraising events during the year (often weekends).
Your own transport would be desirable within this role.
Please contact the Volunteer Experience Team on [email protected] or 0300 300 0128 if you are interested in finding out more or check our volunteering vacancies.
The branch committee meets regularly at Teddington Lifeboat Station.
The next branch meeting will be in January 2019.
Recent fundraising events have included
Elaine and Kevin and everyone at the White Swan have always been staunch supporters of the RNLI
The Twickenham Teddington and District Fundraising team have always been welcome to make bucket collections, set up stalls and even drape the place in our flags and banners!
This pub is very popular with Rugby supporters so the management always notify us of matches that are likely to attract large prematch crowds so that we can come along and fund raise. So far this year, such collections have raised a total of £4,389.73.
In August alone, we raised £1,805.04 with a record of £708.50 taken on 24 August before the England V Ireland match!
A huge contributing factor to this is the management’s suggestion to customers that they donate the £1 deposit (which they pay for the use of reusable tumblers) to the RNLI. Two years ago, Elaine and Kevin switched from disposable single-use plastic cups to more ECO friendly reusable ones. These have been popular with customer as well as cutting down on the pub’s own waste and reducing local litter.
In addition, the proceeds from entrance fees to their their annual Raft Race (which has been running for 26 years) always go to the RNLI. In July 2019 , this raised £964.31!
