Tamworth & Lichfield Fundraising Branch
Branch information
There is some dispute about how far Lichfield and Tamworth are from the sea, but we are certainly amongst the furthest branches inland.
Despite this we have an active RNLI branch, formed when the Lichfield branch amalgamated with the Tamworth branch in 2015.
Tamworth branch had previously funded two inshore lifeboats for the Barrow in Furness lifeboat station, sadly both now decommissioned and there is a Lichfield room at Moelfre station, named in recognition of the Lichfield branch’s fundraising achievements.
But there is still vital work to be done to support and raise funds for the brave lifeboat crews and lifeguards around the UK.
We do our bit by holding various events throughout the year - attending village and county shows with our stand promoting the RNLI with the emphasis always on education about water safety, supermarket collections, quiz nights, cream teas, Christmas tree festivals - lots of different events fill out our calendar throughout the year.
Our Chairman is a Water Safety Adviser giving talks to youngsters in schools and youth groups, supplemented by two presenters who give talks to adult audiences.
Despite a respectable membership of around 80 we have only a small nucleus available to organise and support these events and would welcome help.
Just an hour or two shaking a can or helping erect our stand would go a long way to helping us raise vital funding.
We always need collectors and welcome new Committee members and supporters. If you would be interested in organising an event for us then we would love to hear from you.
Please contact the Chairman for opportunities at this branch or check our volunteering vacancies.
