Branch information
Brightlingsea is a coastal town and an electoral ward in the Tendring district of Essex, England. It is situated between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea, at the mouth of the River Colne, on Brightlingsea Creek.
Brightlingsea is a popular yachting destination with excellent sailing facilities, an annual regatta and many water sports amenities, including separate yacht, model boat, and sailing clubs.
The area has a long history of shipbuilding and seafaring. The town is an ancient member of the Cinque Port of Sandwich, granted by Edward the Confessor.
Our nearest lifeboat station is Clacton on Sea, and we work closely with their branch to support fundraising with the RNLI.
Our branch has been in existence for over 25 years and is well supported by the town. We are actively engaged in many events throughout the year. We are fortunate that the current Deputy of the Cinque port stands as our President each year and supports us with fundraising.
We are a friendly branch and work closely with each other to support our events and raise funds.
The committee meets approximately 6-8 times a year.
Many Brightlingsea residents are connected with the sea so are very aware of the need to support the RNLI.
We hold several fundraising activities each year, usually coinciding with major events created by the town. For more details, please see "Events around Brightlingsea and District RNLI" below.
We actively encourage and welcome new members to support the branch and help with our events.
