Atlantic 85 Mk4 Roadshow
We are delighted to provide you with the opportunity to get up close to our newest lifeboat as the A85 Mk4 Prototype makes its way around the coast.
From the first ideas and design concepts through to construction, testing and operational readiness, this lifeboat represents years of innovation, collaboration and learning. Operational crews have played a vital role in shaping its design, ensuring it continues to meet the demands of saving lives at sea, now and into the future.
Over the coming months you’ll have the chance to join us at locations across the UK and Ireland and Channel Islands to explore the prototype boat, hear the story of its development, discover the technology and innovation behind it, ask questions and spend time together over a brew.
The boat will be positioned on the road trailer, with an access gantry enabling on/offboarding to the boat. The project team will be on hand to support and show you around the boat with questions and add context to some of the decisions that have been made surrounding the changes.
These events are referred to as a ‘dry’ hub which will be available to all volunteers and staff but will be of particular interest to operational Atlantic 85 crew.
We will also be holding ‘wet’ hub events which will offer a more hands on opportunity for the design to be experienced in a practical setting. Crews will be able to experience a 90 minute exercise which will showcase the design and capabilities. Lifeboat crew involved will be identified through their station and regional team. If lifeboat crew have any questions about the wet hub events, please speak with your Area Operations Manager.
