Summer 2026 One Crew update
Please watch the summer One Crew update giving you all the latest news on what is happening across our charity.
I appreciate the last few weeks have been an incredibly busy time for everyone so a big thank you for all that you do to save lives at sea.
I know that things are unlikely to ease off as we enter peak summer season but I hope you are able to find some time to watch our latest One Crew update to hear what has been happening across our charity, to celebrate our successes and also, to reflect upon the challenges we face for the rest of the year and beyond.
This lifeguard themed update was filmed earlier this month at Fistral Beach in Cornwall.
Somehow, despite the recent heatwaves, we managed to pick a wet and windy filming day, when there was virtually no one on the beach apart from the RNLI lifeguards who are out in all weathers keeping beachgoers as safe as possible.
While the wind howled outside, I was joined inside the Lifeguard Visitor Centre by Chief People Officer Carolyn Greene, and Andy Jordan, who I am delighted to confirm has been officially appointed in the role of Chief Operating Officer and Director of Regions after six successful months as Interim Operations Consultant. We were also joined by Lead Lifeguard Supervisor Lewis Timson for a far-ranging question and answer section, covering the Inshore Lifeboat Centre closure plan, Coastal Lifeboat, anti-social behaviour, the Court of Appeal ruling on Groom versus the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the new modular lifeboat station prototype.
Among the other topics covered in this update are:
- Mayday campaign
- Recent awards and recognition for our people
- Volunteer and staff survey results
- Domestic and international water safety
- Atlantic 85 Mark 4 production and trials
- Schedule for future lifeboat asset change announcements, including dates for the autumn regional webinars
If you have any feedback or questions after watching the update, please email [email protected]
Thank you for everything you do for the RNLI and please stay safe this summer.
Sincerely,
Peter Sparkes - Chief Executive
