Anna’s time at the RNLI spans 29 years with an impressive range of roles both in Fundraising and Lifesaving Operations, reflecting her versatility, leadership and unwavering commitment to our mission.

She began her career in 1997 as an Area Representative of Ireland, before moving to becoming an Area Fundraising Manager in 1999 and then a Senior Fundraising Manager in 2001. From there, she stepped into leadership positions as Fundraising and Communications Manager and Fundraising and Development Manager, where she played a key role in strengthening support for the RNLI’s lifesaving work.

Her breadth of experience continued to grow as she took on the role of Interim Fundraising Programmes Manager, before transitioning into operational leadership as Head of Operational Policy and Standards. In this role, Anna brought together her deep understanding of both fundraising and operations, something few in the organisation have experienced so fully. Most recently, since 2022, Anna has held the position of Head of Region, returning to Ireland and finishing her career exactly where she belongs: close to the communities, crews and volunteers she has a deep connection to, all of whom she has supported throughout her journey, including her much-loved Arranmore.

Throughout all these roles, Anna brought the same qualities to everything she did: passion, insight and a genuine dedication to people. Growing up in Donegal, with strong links to the fishing community, she understood first-hand the importance of the RNLI to coastal and island communities. That perspective shaped her approach, always grounded in the reality of those we serve and those who risk their lives to save others.

Colleagues across the RNLI will remember Anna not just for the positions she held, but her ability to connect with our communities, whether with volunteers raising vital funds, lifeboat crews returning from difficult callouts, or families affected by tragedy. Her empathy, her instinct for when to listen, and her support made a lasting impact on many.

Anna’s influence extended well beyond her region. She worked across all parts of the organisation, built strong partnerships with organisations such as the Irish Coast Guard and the International Maritime Rescue Federation, and even saw first-hand the RNLI’s global impact through the work our international teams deliver in Tanzania. At every level, local, national and international she has been a passionate advocate for the RNLI and its lifesaving mission.

Anna leaves behind an incredible legacy: stronger relationships, a deeper understanding across fundraising and operations, and countless lives touched through her work. Her contribution has helped ensure that our volunteers, crews and supporters feel valued, supported and inspired to continue saving lives at sea.

On behalf of everyone at the RNLI, thank you, Anna. Thank you for your leadership, your passion, and your remarkable dedication over so many years.

For those of you have worked with Anna over the years and would like to send your best wishes you can leave a message here before 5pm on 31 July.

We wish you every happiness in your well-earned retirement.
