Tramore RNLI to feature for first time on BBC’s Saving Lives at Sea

The episode will see Tramore RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew respond to an early-morning pager alert following reports of a person stranded on a rock and unable to make their way back to safety.

Their story will feature alongside other RNLI rescues from around Ireland and the UK.

Members of the Tramore crew were also interviewed during filming, reflecting on the rescue and their experience of volunteering with the RNLI.

Speaking ahead of the broadcast, Clive Smith, Tramore RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Clive Smith said: ‘We’re delighted to see Tramore RNLI feature on Saving Lives at Sea for the first time. The lifeboat station has been part of Tramore for generations and has been shaped by the many volunteers, fundraisers and supporters who have given their time to it over the years.

‘It’s lovely to see today’s crew representing the station and the town, while giving people a glimpse of what happens when the pager sounds. We hope people in Tramore will enjoy seeing their local lifeboat station featured alongside RNLI crews from around Ireland and the UK.’

Saving Lives at Sea is now in its 11th series and marks its tenth year of broadcast. The series uses real-life rescue footage and interviews to give viewers an insight into the work of RNLI lifeboat crews and lifeguards. More than 30 RNLI lifeboat stations feature across the latest series.

In 2025, RNLI lifeboat crews around Ireland and the UK aided 8,290 people and saved 272 lives, while RNLI lifeguards helped 36,213 people and saved 117 lives.
