Porthdinllaen RNLI Launches to Reports of Paddleboarder in Difficulty

Launching down the slipway at Porthdinllaen at 7:05pm with a full complement of volunteer crew, the lifeboat made best speed towards the casualty's last reported position.

Upon arrival on scene, the lifeboat was soon joined by HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from nearby Caernarfon Airport. The crews were tasked with conducting a search of the area.

With a strong south-westerly wind, the potential drift of the casualty was calculated, and a thorough search of the coastline from Nant Gwrtheyrn to Dinas Dinlle was carried out. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bangor and Llandwrog also searched the shoreline.

During the search, information was received that the casualty had been located safely ashore. Following this update, the search was stood down, and all responding assets were released from their duties and returned to their stations.

We would also like to thank the member of the public who raised the alarm. Fortunately, on this occasion, the casualty was able to make it safely ashore.'
