Beaumaris Lifeboat volunteers tasked to assist in a Medi-Vac.
A request was received at 2.46 on Thursday (22 October) from HM Coastguard for the volunteer crew of the Beaumaris RNLI to assist, the Penmon Mobile Coastguard team with a medical evacuation from near the Gazelle Hotel by the Menai Strait.
The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington with her volunteer crew was already afloat on a training exercise and the craft immediately left the exercise area to go to the casualty
In the meanwhile, it became possible for a road ambulance to transfer the casualty who had fallen from a wall to the green at Beaumaris for transfer to hospital by the Wales Air Ambulance.
Once this was confirmed the presence of the lifeboat which had yet to reach the scene was no longer required and the lifeboat returned to her previous exercise.
A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘The lifeboat was tasked as a precaution in case of a delay in arrival of the road and/ or the air ambulance. Fortunately, this did not occur and our presence at the scene was therefore not required in this instance.,RNLI Media Contacts
