Two Largs RNLI volunteers celebrate success
On Wednesday 14 October 2026 two Largs RNLI volunteers completed assessments at the lifeboat station with Steve Kemp passing out as Navigator and Ryden Murphy passing out as Tier 2 crew.
After months of training at Largs lifeboat station, and on a dark and stormy evening, Steve and Ryden
were assessed by Ally Young, Coastal Lifeboat Trainer, during Wednesday’s training session and passed with flying colours.
The RNLI Operational Competency Framework (OCF) is designed to provide volunteers with a clear and structured training framework that can take individuals from joining all the way to becoming helm.
Largs Lifeboat Operations Manager, John Griffiths said: ‘I am delighted for Steve and Ryden. They have both worked very hard and shown dedication and enthusiasm throughout their training process.’
