A charity hog roast hosted by Pwllheli RNLI Lifeboat Station has raised £1,278 to support the lifesaving work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Supporters, volunteers, and members of the local community gathered at the lifeboat station at Glan y Don in September for a memorable evening of celebration, fundraising, and community spirit.

Visitors were given special behind-the-scenes access to the facilities, where they viewed both the station's all-weather Shannon class lifeboat, the Smith Brothers and the D-class inshore lifeboat, the Robert J. Wright, alongside the launch vehicles and crew's vital kit. Pwllheli RNLI volunteers thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the public and speaking directly with guests about the station's lifesaving operations.

Gerallt Williams, Chair of Pwllheli RNLI said:

‘We were delighted by the ‘full-house’ turnout for our very first charity hog roast evening at the station in Glan y Don, and extremely grateful for the £1,278 raised. As a charity, the RNLI relies entirely on donations to keep our search and rescue service running.

We extend our thanks to Firmhelm Ltd and Rowlands Marine Electronics for their generous sponsorship, which made this wonderful evening possible. We’re also thankful for the continued support of our local community, the people who always turn out to our events, to view the lifeboats and meet the crew.

It was also the perfect evening to recognise the outstanding commitment of long-serving station volunteers, who were presented with awards for their dedicated service to saving lives at sea.’

In addition to the live music and food, lifeboat and facility viewing, excitement mounted throughout the evening leading up to drawing of the annual raffle, which featured a fantastic selection of prizes donated by local supporters and businesses.’

Ends.
