Watson class lifeboat visit to Penlee
Ex RNLI Watson class lifeboat AMiTy visits her former home station.
The AMiTy was a former Howth Lifeboat Station vessel which later became a relief boat. Penlee Point was her final posting and the location of her last launch in 1988, for the only rescue she carried out while stationed there.
The Solomon Browne was also a Watson class lifeboat, the visit must have been emotionally significant for Patch and the crew.
Penlee RNLI is based in Newlyn, Penzance, Cornwall TR18 5HW. The volunteers crew an all-weather Severn Class Lifeboat the Ivan Ellen and a B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat the Mollie and Ivor Dent. The Penlee Lifeboat has a rich 200 years history of saving lives at sea.
