Llandudno RNLI Launches to Multiple Incidents

On Monday 25 May at 6:28pm, Llandudno’s inshore lifeboat launched following reports of two people in the water off Llandudno Pier who were believed to be drifting further out to sea.

The lifeboat, with four volunteer crew on board, made best speed to the reported location and immediately began searching the area on arrival. Nothing could initially be seen, so the crew carried out a number of search patterns around the pier and surrounding bay.

While the search was ongoing, further reports were received of six people cut off by the tide on the old beach to the west of the pier, along with a family of four reported to be in difficulty near Pigeon’s Cave. The lifeboat temporarily diverted from the search to assess the situation and advise those involved of the rapidly incoming tide. The casualties were assisted away from the affected areas and guided to safety before being further advised by Llandudno Coastguard.

Following this, the inshore lifeboat resumed its search operation alongside HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 336. After an extensive search of the area, with nothing found, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station at 9:15pm.
