Lifeboats News Release

On the 4 May 2026, Dyserth saw a bank holiday duck race event, full of flapping faces and quacking fun.

The event was held to raise money to support the RNLI and its volunteers, and all the hard work they do saving lives at sea. It saw 16 individual boat races at the bottom of Dyserth waterfall, as well as an array of stalls and tunes, entertainment for all the family, the ever popular throw the sponge game and of course, the RNLI’s mascot Stormy Stan!

The event raised over £2,000 in total, all thanks to the donations of the people and various items and ducks sold for the races held in the event. The RNLI would like to thank Dyserth Community Council for sponsoring the event, all the crew and volunteers who helped transport the equipment to the event and of course, the Waterfall Committee at Dyserth for allowing the event to take place.

When asked about the event’s outcome, the RNLI’s Chair of Fundraisers said:

'The Duck Race went well, the weather was kind to us, the local residents supported us and fun was had by all.

'It’s hard work transporting all the equipment we need for the day, but between the fundraisers and the crew it all went well.

'A special thanks to those who were in the very cold water, and to our DJ Mark, our compare Steve and all the other volunteers and stall holders. We did in fact raise over £2,000 for the RNLI, so I think we should be quite proud of ourselves.'
