Sun shines brightly on Walmer RNLI’s 11th Annual Car Wash
From small beginnings in 2016 when 16 volunteers took part, this year saw over 40 volunteers from across the station participate in the event.
On Saturday, 2 May a team of volunteers, their families and friends took part in Walmer’s Annual Car Wash raising funds to help save lives at sea. Over the course of the day, 168 cars and one bicycle were washed and dried.
In all, over £2,400 was raised from car wash entry and fundraising buckets, over £1,000 in shop takings, £840 credited to the RNLI’s Face-to-Face Fundraising Team and £15 from a volunteer’s knitted boot sales.
Walmer helm and sponsor Dan Sinclair said after the event:’ What a phenomenal effort! We were blessed with decent weather all day and the queues did not recede. This just shows the community support for our charity. I’d like to thank everyone for their efforts and contributions to make the day such a success.’
