Over a dozen cars from the 1960s onwards, began their journey on a club event to Holland by visiting Littlestone. Our guests were welcomed by a group of Littlestone RNLI volunteers who had specially pushed the lifeboat out to greet the car club members.

The visitor was co-ordinated by the new Littlestone RNLI Lifeboat Management Group Chair and Romney Retros member, Craig Watt-Peters. Craig was joined at the event by outgoing Chair Kevin Funnell whose tenure included Covid and the arrival of a new lifeboat at the station. Littlestone is crewed entirely by local volunteers who give up their time to train and respond to service calls when tasked by HM Coastguard.

Craig said ‘It’s an honour to be able to host the Retros at our local RNLI lifeboat station. It is also fantastic that the group is raising funds for the RNLI– the event was like a happy family gathering.’

Volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, John Kenny said : ‘It’s great that the Romney Retros have chosen to raise funds for Littlestone RNLI Lifeboat Station. This year, 2026, marks the 200th anniversary of an RNLI lifeboat being placed on the Romney shoreline and it is humbling that our local community still supports our service here. Many people don’t realise that the RNLI is a charity that is dependent on support from the public. The Retros have raised over £3000 for us and we are extremely grateful for their contribution to the RNLI to help save lives at sea.'
