Llandudno RNLI Launches in Challenging Conditions to Porth Eirias

The volunteer crew quickly assembled and prepared the inshore lifeboat for launch. Due to the strong north westerly conditions and rough sea state, the station also prepared the all-weather lifeboat to launch if required, providing additional cover for the inshore crew.

With four crew members on board, the inshore lifeboat launched into challenging conditions and made its way towards Porth Eirias. Shortly after launching, HM Coastguard informed the crew that one casualty had managed to make their way to safety, although the second person remained in difficulty.

The lifeboat continued around the Little Orme in a strong and confused sea towards Rhos-on-Sea, where Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Team were also in attendance. As the crew approached the area, they received a further update confirming that the second casualty had also managed to get ashore.

With no further assistance required, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station. Due to the sea conditions, the decision was made to recover the lifeboat at the old lifeboat slipway, in the lee of the Great Orme.

After the recovery, our volunteer crew were very grateful to receive a hot cup of tea kindly provided by The Merrion Hotel, Llandudno. Thank you for the support, it was very much appreciated by the crew after a challenging evening on the water.
